Adrian Sanchez-Fernandez

Dr. Adrian Sanchez-Fernandez received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. In 2014, he began his doctoral studies at the University of Bath (UK) under the supervision of Prof. Karen Edler and Dr. Andrew J. Jackson studying the intricacies of molecular assembly in deep eutectic solvents.

In 2018, he moved to Lund Universitet (Sweden) to work on the interactions of proteins and amphiphiles aiming to develop new frameworks to describe the co-assembly of complex molecules. Supported by the Department of Process and Life Science Engineering, he became an independent research fellow in 2020. Then, Adrian began his investigations in protein behaviour in deep eutectic solvents.

Adrian received a Maria Zambrano Fellowship and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship in 2022 to return to his Alma Mater, the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. His research goal was to study the adaptation of proteins and nucleic acids in anhydrous deep eutectic solvents to develop functional biomaterials.

In 2023, Adrian was awarded the Ramon y Cajal Fellowship and created descaffold. Now, his research goals focus on the manipulation of molecular interactions to control the behavior of biomolecules and assembled systems on demand.
